Duets are good for you!
By chance, while researching music by Gyorgy Kurtag for an upcoming recital with cellist Tom McMahon, I found a set of Bach duet transcriptions that Kurtag has made. This beautiful little piece (video above) is a quick learn for the player in the treble clef - and great for rhythm reading - little 'cells' that repeat & develop throughout. You can just play the RH if you want; LH crosses over making for a challenge if you want one! I've tried it with several students and it's been great fun. I'm a big advocate of duets, whether notated or as 'jams' - playing the piano should not always be a solo adventure.
Good news for pianists!
We all know that playing the piano is good for you. Have a read of this neat little summary opposite which appeared online recently at - http://www.lifehack.org/517069/science-says-piano-players-brains-are-very-different-from-everybody-elses |
